7 Healthy Breakfast Ideas on the Go

Normally I would encourage you to slow down, enjoy a wholesome breakfast with your family or friends. Sometimes life gets in the way. When busy creeps into our lives, breakfast often becomes the first casualty of the day. One more slap of the snooze button is all it takes to say goodbye to your well intentioned healthy breakfast, helloooo donuts.

Below are seven healthy breakfast ideas on-the-go that you may need in your life. With just a little weekend breakfast meal prep you will have a healthy breakfast to-go for the rest of the week. If you have time to slow down, great. These meal prep ideas will make your mornings just that much simpler.

  1. Slow Cooker Steel Cut Oatmeal with Almonds, Brown Sugar and Coconut – Fusion Craftiness

This is an easy dump into the crockpot recipe.  Just 2 cups of steel-cut oats and 7 cups of water cooked on low for 2 1/2 hours on Sunday.  Store in individual airtight containers and just grab and go.  I like mine with sweetened coconut, brown sugar and almond slices.  I add milk to mine but the vegan option is an easy substitution of almond, coconut or soy milk.  Besides being super healthy, it keeps me satisfied until lunch.

2. Apples, Cheddar and Walnuts

Just toss them in a portable container and off you go.  Finger foods you can enjoy at your work station or in the break room.

3. Grab and Go Breakfast Wraps – Cotter Crunch

Breakfast wraps are the perfect grab and go breakfast.  Portable, freezer friendly, and filled with wholesome simple ingredients.  A healthy breakfast bowl wrapped up to go, 3 ways.  These healthy breakfast wraps recipes will satisfy your hunger on a busy schedule.

4. Cookie Dough Energy Bites – Pinch of Yum

This no-bake recipe whips up in seconds in a food processor.  After forming this wholesome dough into balls, they are frozen individually to firm up and kept in the fridge for the week.  Oats, coconut, chia seeds, peanut butter, honey, chocolate chips, salt and vanilla is all there is to this clean recipe from Pinch of Yum.  Sweet enough for the whole family to enjoy without the guilt.

5. Bananas and Almond Butter With Honey

Stock up on single serving almond butter and honey packets.  Either pack these along with a banana and a small knife or make before-hand and wrap in foil to take with you.  Simply cut the banana in half lengthwise, spread the almond butter and drizzle with honey.  Place the second slice on top of the first and enjoy.

6. Healthy Oat and Apple Muffins – Gimme Some Oven

Muffins are the ultimate grab and go muffins.  The problem is that nutritionally they are usually more dessert than breakfast.  Muffins don’t usually keep me satisfied either.  These apple and oat muffins from Gimme Some Oven are full of fiber and will keep you more satisfied and fueled than the store bought ones.

7. Icelandic-Style yogurt With Blueberries and Granola

A basket full of blueberries.

Place a handful of blueberries and a cup of granola in a to-go container.  Store in the fridge next to a single serving of creamy Icelandic-Style or Greek-Style yogurt.  In the morning just grab them both and enjoy at your destination.

Don’t let busy creep in too much.  Take care of yourself.  Plan ahead and enjoy the week.  Breakfast shouldn’t be a source of contention, hopefully you can slow down enough to enjoy your healthy breakfast.
